Can I sell my car from someone who has deceased?

You can. We understand selling a loved one’s car after they’re gone can be an emotional experience, and we’ll do everything we can to make this as easy as possible for you.

Before you sell the car, you’ll need to get some extra documents together:

  • The owner’s death certificate

OR

  • A letter from a solicitor detailing your right to sell the car
  • The car owner’s will identifying you as the executor

If the car has any outstanding finance, we’ll also need:

  • The finance settlement letter showing how much is owed and the finance company's bank details.

Can I sell my car with a private number plate?

Yes, of course. We’ll buy the car with the private plate still on, or, if you’d prefer to keep it, you’ll need to visit the DVLA website for details on how to put your private plate on retention.

You can then sell your car to us once you have a V5C showing the car's original registration number.

Do I have to buy a car to sell my current one?

Not at all. If you just want to sell your car without buying another one, that's what we'll assist you in doing.

How do you value my car?

Our valuations are based on the make, model, age, mileage, condition and market-driven factors. All our valuations are data-driven and we will always give you a price in line with online data valuation tools.

How will I get paid for my car?

As soon as all the paperwork is completed and you hand over your car, we’ll ask our team to send the cash to your account instantly and wait until you see the funds.

I've lost my V5C, can I still sell my car?

We need the V5C in order to buy your car. Don't worry, you can easily order a new one from the DVLA website.

My car has outstanding finance, will you still buy it?

This is fine and we’ll even help you settle the finance. Simply bring the finance settlement letter showing how much you still owe and the finance company's bank details to the drop-off appointment. This can be requested from your finance company at any time.

What documents do I need to sell my car?

Please bring with you the following documents:

  • Your Driving Licence
  • A bank statement – addressed to your name and current home address dated within 3 months
  • Vehicle registration document (V5C)
  • Vehicle service history (if applicable)
  • All keys – including spares
  • Any accessories related to the use of the vehicle i.e. user manuals, locking wheel nut, memory cards etc

If your car is currently on a finance agreement we'll also need:

  • Valid finance settlement letter – showing final settlement figure and finance company bank details (if applicable)

All documents must be the originals and not photocopies.

What if I'm offered a better price for my car somewhere else?

We guarantee to pay more than other car buying outlets for your car. Check that the other company isn't charging any admin fees (we don't), then contact us to let us know. We'll then double check our valuation to make sure it's accurate.

Will you buy a non-runner?

We will, but you’ll need to arrange to get the car safely to us or we will arrange to come to you. You’ll need to either have it towed or recovered depending on its condition.

Will you buy any car?

We buy all makes and models of cars regardless of age, mileage, colour or condition.

Will you collect my car?

We will collect all cars and collections will be made within 48 hours of your enquiry being made.
